Fay Putnam - Alexander Technique

Biography

Fay Putnam is an Alexander Technique teacher trained in the tradition established by F.M. Alexander and is certified by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT). AmSAT establishes and maintains the nation's highest standards for teacher training, certification and membership. AmSAT teachers adhere to professional standards and have 1,600 hours of training over three years at an AmSAT approved training program. A graduate of Ithaca College, Ms. Putnam has also studied voice at Peabody Conservatory, the San Francisco conservatory of Music, Westminster Choir College, and Virginia Commonwealth University. As a professional chorister, she has performed under the direction of such conductors as Seiji Ozawa, Edo De Waart, Sarah Caldwell, Robert Craft, and JoAnn Falletta and has been heard as soloist on both coasts of the United States as well as in Europe. In demand as a professional chamber musician and teacher, she maintains a private studio for the study of Voice and the Alexander Technique in Portland, OR and also teaches in Oakland, CA.
